Its two founders, singer Janove Ottesen and guitarist Geir Zahl, founded their first band (Blod, Snått & Juling) together in 1991. The texts by Ottesen and Zahl were generally written in Norwegian. Kaizers Orchestra was a Norwegian rock band formed in early 2000. But at some point, someone realized that it wouldn’t make sense to play in front of a basically empty arena, so they did start to sell some tickets. Originally, this concert was planned as a closed event without any tickets on sale. The music of Kaizers Orchestra was inspired by Tom Waits music, Eastern European Sinti and Roma music, punk rock and March / Humppa music (Ompa in Norwegian). In 20 the band released their almost musical-like Violeta trilogy and announced their breakup after a farewell tour in 2013. In 2009 Kaizers Orchestra released the album Våre Demoner, which was only available as a "Limited Edition" in Scandinavian stores for one week and was then only sold as a download. With the fourth album Maskineri, which was released in 2008, the band remained true to their style despite a change of producer. The third album, Maestro, was released in mid-August 2005 in Norway and the rest of Europe. It was a huge success, first in Norway, then later in Denmark and the Netherlands. The first album, Ompa til du dør (Humppa till you die), was released by the Broiler Farm underground label in 2001.
